After fitting a different throttle body and a new lambda (oxygen) sensor, the S80 ran perfectly again from an engine perspective. However, some noises started to come from the suspension, the tyres were due for replacement, and there was noticeable play in the right-hand steering ball joint. With the APK inspection approaching, it was time to take action.
Parts replaced:
- Shock absorbers with struts and top mounts
- Control arms with ball joints
- Engine mounts (upper and lower)
- Anti-roll bar links
- Inner and outer tie rods
- Engine oil and oil filter, spark plugs
- 4x Vredestein Sportrac 5 tyres
Still on the planning list are a timing belt replacement and a change of the automatic transmission fluid.

Of course, the job didn’t go entirely without setbacks—but in the end, the result was absolutely worth it.

And finally… the end result.
